Graduates of Columbia College’s Public Health program will be prepared to pursue a career in the field of specific health professionals or in community health settings. The Bachelor of Arts degree prepares students for employment in healthcare settings and the Bachelor of Science in Public Health is a good choice for students planning to pursue graduate work in the health professions.
Mission: The Public Health degrees seek to improve human health by applying knowledge from multiple disciplines to help students develop an understanding of public health. Their knowledge will be grounded scientifically, but with due consideration to human rights and cultural perspectives.
Student Learning Outcomes
The successful student will:
- Identify the social determinants of health factors that impact the overall health challenges of populations.
- Synthesize public health and evidence-based strategies to solve public health issues in a global world.
- Articulate effective public health terminology and health information using desicpline specific communication tools.
