Student Learning Outcomes

The successful student will:

  1. Demonstrate critical thinking skills required for effective performance in professional and other social or cultural contexts. 
  2. Demonstrate the ability to research and synthesize information from multiple perspectives.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of individual and cultural differences. 

Concentration Outcomes

The successful student will:

Professional Studies: Demonstrate a competance in one area of study.

Contemporary Interculturality: Demonstrate knowledge of challenges and opportunities of multiple cultures currently present in the United States.

Social Justice: Demonstrate theoretical and practical knowledge of social justice.

Requirements


Core Requirements:

Students must take 3 s.h. in addition to each of the following general education categories:

  • Aesthetic Literacy
  • Historical Literacy
  • Human Institutions and Behavior
  • Literary Knowledge
  • Philosophical Inquiry or Religious Studies
  • Science and Quantitative Literacy


In addition, students must take one course from the follwing group:

Concentrations


Students must choose one of the following concentrations as a part of the General Studies major.

Professional Studies


Choose 12 s.h. from any one prefix, except for the following prefix combinations that may be combined for 12 s.h.: CIS/CYS, EDU/SPED, BUS/GB, MUA/MUE/MUS.

Contemporary Interculturality


Choose 12 s.h. from the following. No more than 6 s.h. may be from one prefix.

Total Credit Hours: 33


Note: Students must also complete a minimum of 9 s.h of coursework at the 300 level or higher in the major
