The mathematics curriculum closely follows recommendations of the Committee on the Undergraduate Program in Mathematics (CUPM) of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA). It covers standard core topics (such as calculus, linear algebra, real analysis) as well as additional required courses that are application-oriented (such as discrete mathematics, differential equations, and probability and statistics).  In addition, we offer an actuarial math certificate for students seeking a career in insurance or banking industry.

Mission: The Mathematics program is committed to providing mathematics majors with the coursework and experiences that will enable them to attend graduate school, teach at the secondary level, or enter a mathematics-related career in business, industry, or government.  The curriculum emphasizes the collaborative learning together with individual skills.  All majors are required to complete an internship or a senior project.

Student Learning Outcomes:

  1. Students will acquire problem solving skills.
  2. Students will gain an understanding of mathematical reasoning including the ability to produce and judge rigorous arguments and proofs.
  3. Students will be able to communicate mathematical ideas and arguments.
