The Human Development and Family Studies program provides a learning context and academically challenging curriculum that equips students to understand how individuals develop physically, cognitively, emotionally and socially across their lifespans in the context of family and society. Students in HDFS are prepared to work in both applied or research settings after graduation.  

 

Student Learning Outcomes:

  1. Students will describe and apply key concepts associated with the major developmental tasks of the lifespan.  
  2. Students will evaluate and apply developmental theory to practice and policy.  
  3. Students will apply basic research methods and statistical analysis to developmental data.  
  4. Students will analyze processes, policies and contextual factors that impact that delivery of services to individuals and families.
