HED 733 - Trauma-Informed Practices in Higher Education

This course provides an overview of best practice in trauma informed practices in higher education. The course promotes understanding of the long-term impact of trauma on learners’ academic and personal development and explores the impact of trauma on learner success and retention. Students will develop strategies for building resilience through trauma informed practices and explore the differential impact of trauma on diverse communities. Additional topics include the legal and ethical considerations of trauma-informed practice and developing a trauma informed campus culture.
