POSC 211 - Politics and Multiculturalism Multiculturalism tries to define the relationship between the cultural rights and identities of individuals and groups and a nation in which they live. That relationship is shaped by the law and policies of the governments involved. This course will focus on that relationship and all its implications. We will explore the origin and the rationale behind the diversity policies. Is there a “melting pot” or is it a myth? Are diverse groups becoming more separated, more marginalized than ever before? We will hear from marginalized voices and will, hopefully, develop an awareness to the ever increasing complexity that defines and shapes multicultural policies worldwide. Previously offered as POSC 290R and POSC 290GG.
