DAN 320 - Dance in Sociopolitical Contexts An investigation of dance practices across time and space with an emphasis on the relationship of dance to culture and politics. Critical theories will be examined in relation to dance practices through the exploration of themes including dance as performative representation of personal and collective identity, dance as a mechanism for social reproduction, dance as resistance, and the social construction of dancing bodies as gendered/raced/classed.
