WRIT 340 - Methods of Teaching Writing


Designed for students seeking certification in English Language Arts or for English majors desiring to teach writing on the college level. Students will study basic composition theory, learn how to facilitate the linguistic and communicative competencies of adolescents from diverse backgrounds and with diverse abilities, and develop a personal writing style by producing several essays. The course will also focus on the assessment of writing processes and best practices in monitoring the progress of developing writers. Students will explore a range of pedagogical approaches to developing writing while compiling extensive “tool chests” of resources to aid in this work.
