Speech Language Pathology, Clinical Track, B.A.

The Speech-Language Pathology program at Columbia College is an undergraduate program that results in a Bachelor of Arts degree.  The program is available in on-campus and online delivery formats and is designed to prepare students for Speech-Language Pathology Assistant licensure through an engaging learning environment characterized by academic education and clinical experiences. Academic coursework provides a foundation for understanding human communication and communication disorders. Clinical experiences focus on describing speech and language characteristics and implementing speech and language therapy. 

Mission: The mission of the Speech Language Pathology program at Columbia College is to prepare students for the field of speech-language pathology within a liberal arts foundation. The vision and mission of the speech-language pathology program are aligned with those of the Division of Education and the institution of Columbia College. Students are educated to meet all standards in preparation for entry into the field of communication disorders. Through a variety of clinical experiences and academic coursework, students will be prepared to serve a culturally diverse society in various employment settings. The faculty mentor students as they prepare to become reflective practitioners, lifelong learners, leaders, and critical thinkers prepared for serving people of all ages with communication disorders.  

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Students will demonstrate speech-language pathology knowledge in therapeutic settings.  
  2. Students will demonstrate the essential skills and professional dispositions for the speech-language pathology profession.  
  3. Students will employ clinical skills for speech-language therapy in clinical settings.
