Graduates of Columbia College’s Public Health program will be prepared to pursue a career in the field of specific health professionals or in community health settings. The Bachelor of Arts degree prepares students for employment in healthcare settings and the Bachelor of Science in Public Health is a good choice for students planning to pursue graduate work in the health professions.
Mission: The Public Health degrees seek to improve human health by applying knowledge from multiple disciplines to help students develop an understanding of public health. Their knowledge will be grounded scientifically, but with due consideration to human rights and cultural perspectives.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Students will comprehensively describe major chronic illnesses and disabilities and their impact on health outcomes, health promotion and behavior.
- Students will demonstrate problem solving skills by applying, analyzing, and synthesizing content knowledge in public health.
- Students will apply the principles of project implementation, including planning, assessment, and evaluation in organizational and community initiative.
